Adapted from a classic 70s Japanese cartoon, thelive action movie Cutie Honey stars Sato Eriko and is one of the most talkedabout films in Japan this summer. The director for this film is the fameddirector of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Anno Kideaki, and the lead CUTIE HONEY isplayed by the sexy Sato Eriko, where she will be COSPLAY! The comic Cutie Honeybegan in 1973 about a girl with special powers that allows her to have theunusually strong fighting powers. Kisaragi Honey usually lives in a secludedboarding school, but when she is fighting crime, she does her switch moves,screams "HONEY FLASH!", and turns into the sexy and sweet CUTIE HONEY. This filmwill have some of the most advanced CG technology to date, showing this switchin the most seamless fashion.

So begins the otaku reign of Eriko Sato as anime's most buxom babe-android crimefighter, CUTIE HONEY! In this live-action adaptation, Sato portrays HoneyKisaragi, mild mannered Tokyo office lady by day. But when evil is afoot, Honeyloads up on musubis for that last jolt of energy, touches her fly choker and (intrue Shazam! style), screams those magic words and transforms into Cutie Honey!Evil comes in the form of the fabulous, semi-cross-dressing "Panther Claw" Gang,who kidnaps Honey's eccentric scientist uncle. Sato was clearly hired for her"assets" that contribute to the full embodiment of her character, but she doesbring a sense of innocence and comic timing that raises the film above thegenre. Is it hentai? Hardly. But you do get a visually stunning action comedythat easily transfers the tropes of anime into the live-action realm, borrowingmotifs from henshin heroes of yore. Oh yeah, and Cutie Honey's hot!
